This is Jax Fortune, bringing you the news as it happens. The rapidly expanding TaggeCo Megacorporation, which as of yet has had nothing but success in it's rapid growth, is now rocked with scandal. About 30,000 workers for TaggeCo have formed a union, and are on strike. The apparent cause of their upheaval is due to what they call "unsafe" working conditions on the planet that they're working to survey, Mrykr. Apparently survey teams travelling through the forests will be ambushed, usually totally wiped out, by native beasts called vornskrs. Some claim that these beasts have wiped out armed parties of up to 40 surveyors. The casualty total is approaching 2,000. While TaggeCo has considered an aggressive military solution to eradicate the beasts and satisfy their workers, Animal Rights Activists are in an uproar over an outright slaughter of the creatures. They are outraged at the possible extinction of an entire species due to, and i quote, "the greed of a select few". This puts TaggeCo in a difficult race against the clock. TaggeCo is the leading company in a number on industries, including planetary surveys in practically the whole Republic. But every day that the strike continues, they lose millions of credits. Tarzen Tagge, the extremelly wealthy founder and head of TaggeCo, was unavailable for comment on the matter. What the company will decide, and the ramifications of that decision are uncertain. But you'll certainly hear it first from Jax Fortune.
